Jake Owen Goes Back
Jake Owen takes fans on a walk down memory lane in his Origins special airing this weekend on GAC. Owen took the network's crew down to his hometown of Vero Beach, Florida, where he tells us he had a 'surreal' experience. "I got to go to the first bar I played at that sat on the water to the guitar store I bought my first guitar in that ironically enough sells sheet music to my music now, and it's so weird. I went in there and I'm looking at this. I'm going, 'I remember walking in here not even knowing how to play a guitar, buying it from them, and now they have, like, multiple books where they're selling music to my songs that I've written, and it's just really surreal."
Owen said that doing the Origins show helped him appreciate just how far he's come. "Lookin' back it's like, 'Oh my God!' I actually have done a lot that I completely forgot I did, cause I live so day-to-day, you know, that you tend to forget about how you got here, and this has been like an eye-opening experience -- pretty cool!"
Origins airs on GAC on Saturday (October 24th) at 8 p.m. CT and again on Sunday (October 25th) at 6 p.m. CT.
Owen's latest hit, "Eight Second Ride," is a Top 25 hit and climbing on the country charts.
The singer will join Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Brooks & Dunn, Kellie Pickler, and Jason Aldean as the lineup at the Bayou Country Superfest on May 29th and 30th, 2010 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
