Taylor Still Breaking Records
Taylor Swift seems to make music history once a week, and this week is no exception. She how holds the Billboard record for the longest-charting album of this century with her self-titled debut. The CD was released in October of 2006. This week marks it's 157th week on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The feat surpasses the record previously held by Nickelback.
Also this week, with the release of the CD/DVD Fearless Platinum Edition, Taylor locked down five of the Top 10 singles positions on iTunes' all-genre singles chart, as well as seven of iTunes' Top 10 Country singles, including the entire Top Six.
On Saturday (November 7th), Taylor will host and serve as the night's musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The last time a female country artist was tapped for double duty on the show was Dolly Parton twenty years ago.
Taylor is nominated for four CMA Awards this year, including Entertainer of the Year. She is also the lead nominee at the 2009 American Music Awards with six nominations.
Fearless was originally released in November of 2008. It has now sold more than four million copies in the U.S., and has earned Gold or Platinum status in 16 countries spanning five continents.
Fearless has spent more weeks in the Number One position on the Billboard Top 200 all-genre CD sales chart than any other album this decade.
Taylor also holds the Billboard record for most Top 10 debuts in a calendar year, and is the only solo female act in the 44-year history of the Billboard Country Chart to score five Top 10 singles from a debut album.
