Dierks Is Seeing Double
Dierks Bentley will take the first few months of the new year off to work on two new projects that he hopes to release in 2010. One is his next studio album, while the other is a special bluegrass project.
Dierks told The Boot, "Every album I've done has a bluegrass song on it, so it's not a surprise that one day I might make a bluegrass record. It would be a cool thing for me."
Switching things up has become mandatory for Dierks in order to keep things interesting, he tells us: "Musically, (I) just try to make records that always excite me, I guess, and not be afraid to take chances and even somewhere down the road disappoint people with an album that maybe no one really likes but me. There's some artists who I love that make really consistent albums every time that sound the same as the one before, and I buy 'em because of that, 'cause I love that consistent sound that singer makes, but my thing is always going to be trying to take it somewhere new, looking for new sounds and new songs and new ideas and new melodies and just going in one direction or the other, hopefully always up, but maybe sometimes to the left or right and just trying to take it somewhere where it's always exciting to me."
Dierks will be hitting the road again next spring, but he hopes to squeeze in one of his High Times and Hangovers tours of bars and clubs again with group Cross Canadian Ragweed before signing on with any major tours.
Dierks' latest album, Feel That Fire, was released in February of this year.
