Dear Cash,
Please find my favorite picture of my daughter, and my hero, Pvt. Poole, (soon to be Pfc) whom just turned 21, (October 22, 2006). She is stationed in Kuwait providing security in and around Iraq for convoys. She is currently assigned to the 89th Transportation Company.
This was her first Birthday away from home, her family and her friends. She is our Hero!
Please remember to keep her and all our troops in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks,
Regina Vick

Prayer Request: Brad Wright
Cash got a touching e-mail from Angela Wright about her brother, Brad. Brad was involved in a tragic accident in June, and he and his family need your prayers. Get the whole story.

Meet Brittany Hovies and Sgt. Joseph Bowden.
Soldiers and their loved ones are heroes!
Sgt Joe is going back to Iraq again (note all the medals).
They became engaged, and Brittany called Cash and said Joe had forgotten about the Rascal Flatts tickets she asked him for (in all the engagement excitement).
So Cash bought them a pair as a wedding gift and dropped them to her at Greater Birmingham Dodge, and got big smiles and hugs for his efforts!

Pretty cool, Cash. Now you're somewhat of a hero yourself, to a couple of Hometown Heroes!

Meet Robert Grant. Robert is a student at East Carolina University who has decided to hit the road in a grand undertaking for charity. This Summer, Robert is bicycling from Coast to Coast, North Carolina to California. It's a 3,600 mile trip through 10 states to benefit The JDRF, MS, and an Education Trust fund. Check out Robert's blog here, it's quite a story!

I met Chris Turley at the Talladega Relay for Life where he spoke about how the American Cancer Society helped him get through a tough time in his life and the many services that the charity offers. The guy perseveres and is driving short track now! Here's a link to his web page and a picture of him with Carl Edwards.

Our very own Jay Michaels (7pm-midnight) poses with his son, Chris, a genuine war hero who was nearly killed by an ambush of his humvee in Iraq. Fifteen of Chris' brothers-in-arms were killed in the attack, leaving Chris and a sole medic as the only survivors. Chris lost one of his legs in the explosion and suffered other traumatic injuries, but thanks to the efforts of that sole medic, as well as his own intestinal fortitude and strength of character, Chris endured. Take a good look at a real American hero, folks. That kind of courage and heart doesn't come along every day.

Our latest Hometown Hero, Emily Schreiber, is a 7th grader at Mountain Brook Middle School. Emily has Cystic Fibrosis and, as a swimmer, has raised over $375,000 for the CF Foundation. Wow. Just wow! Great going, Emily!
Check out Emily's website to see how she does it, and how you can help!

WZZK's very own Jay Michaels paid a visit to the V.A. hospital to see some real American heroes. Jay's son Chris, a sergeant in the US Army, was seriously injured when his humvee was ambushed in Iraq, and himself is a hometown hero. So Jay has some pretty close ties to veterans, and we salute him and our veterans here as Hometown Heroes.

Cash, Kari, and Kaitlin McCartney, a 6th grader from Thorsby, posing in the WZZK studio. Kaitlin is doing the "Shadow" program to learn about careers. She shadowed Kari to learn about her job, and brought her baby brother so Cash could change a few diapers!
