| Who is Ron Foster? If the question involves a Southern Gospel artist or song, Ron Foster will have the answer. That's not bragging . . . that's just a fact. Ron has loved Southern Gospel music for as long as he can remember, and most of his fond childhood memories have something to do with said music. Growing up the son of a minster, Ron still remembers how thrilling it was when a quartet would come to his church for a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon concert. While most teenagers were listening to rock or country music during the 70's, Ron was listening to such groups as The Cathedrals, The Chuck Wagon Gang, and The Inspirations. Ron has not only always enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, he's also enjoyed a successful solo ministry performing it as well. During the early 90's, Ron traveled throughout the southeast performing in churches and auditoriums. It was during this time that he met recording artist and songwriter Tim Greene of The Greenes. Ron chose Tim as his producer when he decided to record a cd, and his national release, "His Majesty Sings", was a song written by Tim. It was also during this time that Ron began serving various churches as music minister, a position he still enjoys today. Ron's career in radio began in the mid 90's when he was hired as a part-time on air personality at a small independently owned station with a Southern Gospel only format. After spending a few years with that station, Ron landed at a larger station serving again as an on air personality playing Southern Gospel music. But changes were again coming, and Ron's home for the past six years has been at WZZK. It's been during this time that Ron's vast knowledge of the industry has been nationally recognized in that he has been twice nominated as "DJ of the Year" by the Singing News Magazine. | |
