Finding Strength in Family: The Inspiring Story of Lulu Gribbin

Last weekend, a horrible thing happened to three people doing what so many people do: swim in the ocean in Florida.  No one ever thinks they’re gonna be attacked by a shark, but these three ladies had just that thing happen to them.  One woman lost part of an arm and had other injuries. The other two girls hit a little closer to home because they were neighbors, friends, loved ones of those we know. McCray Faust of Mountain Brook was lucky to have only flesh wounds, but she’s never gonna forget this event and I don’t blame her. I pray for her and her family ever since this happened. The most serious injuries were to the other girl, Lulu Gribbin, also of Mountain Brook. She’s lost an arm and a leg. She was on a breathing tube and her mother told a local news station that when doctors took the tube out, her first words were, “I Made It.”  Wow! That gave me chills, in the most amazing way. She’s got a lot of rehab ahead and has even told the surgeons that she wants to keep any shark teeth they find in her future surgeries.

I’m not sure I would be as strong as she is, but I pray that if any huge event happens in my life where I have no control, I can be as strong as Lulu Gribbin. Her strength is in her family and their faith. Where do you find your strength?
