The new trailer for Peacock’s documentary Gary hints at suspicious circumstances surrounding the former Diff’rent Strokes child star’s death, following a rocky marriage, money problems, and recurring depression.
Premiering Aug. 29, the 90-minute film explores Gary Coleman’s journey from global stardom to his struggles with fame, and the mystery around his untimely death at 42. Peacock promises unprecedented access to Coleman’s personal life through exclusive interviews with co-star Todd Bridges, former managers, estranged parents, and his ex-wife.
Coleman, raised by adoptive parents, battled kidney disease; his treatment medications stunted his growth. Despite this, he became TV’s highest-paid child actor in the late 1970s and 1980s, starring in Diff’rent Strokes and other shows. Gary Coleman passed away in Utah in 2010.
