Birmingham’s Rising Star Shines Bright on ‘The Voice’ Stage

Birmingham has a knack for producing talent show stars, from “American Idol” winners to “Dancing with the Stars” contestants. Now, Lauren-Michael Sellers is the latest Magic City sensation, making waves with her incredible audition on “The Voice.”

Sellers, a Birmingham native and longtime fixture in the local music scene, left all four judges in awe. Her performance was so impressive that each judge eagerly vied to have her on their team.

Lauren-Michael Sellers’ Unforgettable Audition

Catch Sellers’ standout performance on Season 26, Episode 5 of “The Voice.” She sang for judges Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and Snoop Dogg.

From the first note of “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” Stefani recognized the song and quickly turned her chair. Buble followed suit, with McEntire joining soon after. Snoop was the last to turn, later explaining he was so captivated by the performance that he hesitated.

The Christian song moved Snoop Dogg to remark, “I feel like God was in this room here.”

When it came time to choose a coach, Sellers picked McEntire to guide her journey.

A Track Record of Success

Sellers is no newcomer to winning competitions. Back in 2011, she triumphed in Birmingham Mountain Radio’s open mic contest at the former Barking Kudu bar in Lakeview. The contest, reminiscent of “American Idol,” drew many local musicians. Sellers now advances to the next round of “The Voice,” where she’ll team up with another member of McIntyre’s team for a duet.

Don’t miss “The Voice” on NBC to follow Sellers’ exciting journey!
