Move over, Chipotle, there’s a new burrito in town. A family in Amarillo, Texas made headlines after finding a baby bird in their yard, cold and abandoned. In a stroke of Texan ingenuity, they wrapped the little guy in a warm tortilla to keep it cozy until the Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center could step in. Only in Texas, folks.

This little feathered friend was in dire straits when it was discovered, lying on the cold ground. The family’s quick thinking not only kept the bird warm but also made for some unique and heartwarming photos. Because, honestly, who can resist a bird burrito?

Thankfully, the volunteers from the Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center swooped in heroically to take care of the baby bird—not served with salsa, mind you. They ensured the bird received the appropriate care and a much more conventional (bird-friendly) habitat. Hats off to these everyday heroes and their culinary companions!

This makes you wonder—what other creative methods are folks using to save wildlife? Next time you’re in Texas, keep your eyes peeled. You might find a nacho-eating squirrel or a raccoon in a sombrero. Texas, you never disappoint– Sandman
