Music lovers in Alabama are invested in Oak Mountain Amphitheatre’s future. Since 1986, this Pelham venue has been a key player in the state’s music scene, holding the title of Alabama’s largest outdoor concert space.

The 10,500-seat amphitheater, now owned by Live Nation, has evolved over time with expansions and upgrades. While not as iconic as some historic venues, it has hosted an impressive lineup of stars from Jimmy Buffett to Foo Fighters.

Oak Mountain’s importance lies in its role filling a crucial niche between concert halls and arenas. As the 2024 season closes with Post Malone’s sold-out show tonight questions arise about its future.

Live Nation remains quiet about 2025 plans, as a new amphitheater is under construction in downtown Birmingham. This $46 million BJCC project, also managed by Live Nation, is set to open in June 2025.

While change is coming, there’s reason for optimism. The new venue promises fresh experiences, and Oak Mountain’s legacy ensures its place in Alabama’s music history. Whatever the future holds, the passion for live music in Alabama remains strong, promising exciting times ahead for concert-goers.

Live Nation plans to close Oak Mountain Amphitheatre once the downtown Birmingham venue is complete. The fate of the Pelham site remains uncertain, with options including sale, demolition, or repurposing. If sold, it won’t be used as a concert venue due to an agreement with the BJCC.

Fans might see a few more shows at Oak Mountain in early 2025, possibly including a farewell event. However, Live Nation hasn’t announced any plans yet.

The new Birmingham Amphitheater, set to open in June 2025, is on track. This 9,380-seat venue will host about 20 summer shows and various events, boosting the Uptown area’s appeal.

Live Nation has already announced Teddy Swims for August 15, 2025. The seating map shows a standing pit, regular seats, box seats, and upper tiers.

While change is coming, there’s excitement about the new venue. It promises fresh experiences for music lovers, continuing Alabama’s strong live music tradition. The future looks bright for concert-goers, with more opportunities to enjoy their favorite artists in a state-of-the-art setting.
