Mark Deese

Catch Mark Deese Sunday afternoons from 1-7pm on WZZK.

Mark Deese began his radio career at the age of 15, working weekends at a couple of stations here in Central Alabama.  His love of music sparked his interest in radio, and he continued his announcing duties throughout high school and college.  He is a 1999 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, having received his Bachelor’s degree in English.  Before joining WZZK in 2001, Mark was an announcer and commercial writer for 98.7 KISS-FM in Birmingham and also worked as Topical News Writer/Producer for ABC 33/40.

Mark is a licensed insurance agent for the state of Alabama and spends his days working on his book of business.  Outside of work, Mark is a vocalist who has participated in theatrical productions and talent contests.  In past years, he has been named Most Promising Male Vocalist (new country) with the Alabama Country and Gospel Music Association, represented Alabama at the North American Country Music Associations International contest, and placed 1st Runner-Up at the Talent America showcase in Stamford, Connecticut.  You can even spot his name in the liner notes of Dierks Bentley’s Greatest Hits (2003-2008) album.  He, along with many other fans who participated, is listed as an executive producer, meaning that he got to vote on artwork, song selection, etc. for the album.
