My name is Mike “Sandman” Sanders, and I am thrilled to be back in Birmingham, joining WZZK 104.7 from Nashville, TN. My career in radio began during my college days at the University of Alabama and has flourished over the past 30 years. In addition to my extensive experience in radio, I have ventured into TV and acting (Nashville and Still the King) and stand up. I have done asphalt and painted houses and done construction work but to be honest radio and music is my happy place, and air conditioning is a major plus.

Over the weekends, I immerse myself in the vibrant live music scene and explore the best BBQ joints and food trucks that the Magic City has to offer. When the food truck lines are too long, I enjoy crafting my own culinary creations in the kitchen. Though I own a guitar and have mastered three chords, I prefer to leave the country singing and songwriting to the professionals.

With a deep passion for entertainment and a rich background in broadcasting, I am committed to bringing engaging and dynamic content to our listeners at WZZK. My journey has been a blend of dedication, creativity, and a love for connecting with people, and I am excited to continue this journey with the WZZK team in Birmingham.
